Securing Spare Tire To Roof Rack

Install was quite easy just nuts bolts.

The spare tire is big so i like the ruggedness of the cargo basket and spare carrier and that the tire is secure up there when occasionally bouncing around on those dirt roads. Spare on the roof or hood gets the spare out of the way. Works perfectly and held my spare tire on my off grid w extension. Listed as the carrier for the warrior and mega warrior racks.

Then just lay the tire up there and using the stock wing nut and spacer lock it down. I like how easy it is to put the basket with spare carrier on and off my vehicle quickly. Spare tire bike racks are simple to assemble and take up very little space when they re not in use. Bolt 2 pieces of metal together on ontop and one under the roof rack and thread the rod into it.

This is the spare tire carrier for that application. I used a normal sized lock. You can mount it with a through bolt or some straps. Purchased to put an oversized spare on my yakima off grid.

Take the spare tire wing nut thats holds it in place now and go to home depot and get a threaded rod that will fit it. While some carriers secure the wheel through one or more wheel stud holes others attach through the center wheel opening. Cheap and easy especially if you already have a rack up there.
